The future of R&B has arrived.
On March 25th, Jacquees released his new project, 19, an 11-track EP that features the likes of Rich Homie Quan, Trinidad Jame$, Lloyd & Chris Brown. The 19-year old ATL native touches a range of subjects, including love, trust, and intimacy. The question that needs to be answered is this: can Jacquees live up to the hype he’s received?
The purpose of this EP is to showcase Jacquees’ best work and make his voice known to a weakened R&B culture. ‘Quees seems to feel very comfortable on every track on 19, and it shows with his consistently impressive delivery from track to track, and he almost makes it seem effortless for him to create song that can correctly capture his emotions. He shows that he can create any type of song — whether it be a slow, or uptempo love ballad — and still pull it off flawlessly.
The spot-on production on 19 was key for Jacquees’ success. Many newcomers, along with veteran producers, appear on the album; such as Drumma Boy, K Major & T Back The Hitmaker. K Major’s production on “Feel It” does a great job of sending that vibe through the speakers. Drumma Boy & T Back The Hitmaker’s “Won’t Turn It Down” & “Bet I” incorporate production that not only favors ‘Quees, but favor the guest artists on the songs (Chris Brown & Trinidad Jame$).

19 not only proved that Jacquees is a very talented singer, it also showed that he has enough charisma to not be overshadowed by the talented roster of rappers and singers that appeared on the project. The EP was very impressive and consistent from top to bottom. Jacquees' strong vocal range is evident from the start of this EP, and is consistently shown throughout the project. You can feel on every track that the singer is very confident in his abilities and enjoyed every second of each song, as he let his voice define the direction of each track. The 19-year old ATLien has shown he has the potential to one of the leaders of the "new wave" of R&B artists.
