Today’s Throwback Thursday track is Kendrick Lamar’s “Rigamortus” off his debut album, Section.80. “Rigamortus” is a nearly 3-minute song that was one of Kendrick’s first sleeper hits during his career. Being released in 2011 with the rest of the album, the song features Kendrick’s nearly breathless assault on the soulful beat in which he doesn’t stop to breathe for the majority of the song. Who does 16 bars without stopping? Kendrick does, obviously. Although the song wasn’t a single, the music video has over 4.5 million views as of today.
Listen to “Rigamortus” and then try to tell me you’re not impressed afterwards.
