Favorite tracks: “Javarhi Bourdeau Flow,” “19 & Thuggin”
It’s about that time.
Meet Tre Capital, 19-year old rapper who’s the son of a hip-hop legend and trying to make a name for himself in the rap game; he’s definitely made a name for himself within the industry while still being relatively unknown to some of the public. Today, he releases part one of his debut EP, GUNDAM, which is a 6-song project that clocks in right under 24 minutes. The LA-native has a lot to prove with this project after having plenty of the top blogs promoting him, including his latest music video for “Javarhi Bourdeau Flow” — which was premiered by 2dopeboyz — and having GUNDAM being premiered by Complex. Who is this kid? Tre may still be new to the masses, but many people in the industry are pushing him ahead of the competition. According to Tre, he told me that many top people have told him he’s “next,” and I believe him after hearing GUNDAM.
The solid production was key to the success of GUNDAM. With production from Eestbound, Prezident Jeff, Deazy, Thompson, WondaGurl & Sunny Norway, Tre succeeds with strong, hard-hitting production and his aggressive tone. All the tracks fit his intense style and there’s a song for everybody to enjoy on this project.
Tre also has success lyrically on GUNDAM. I wouldn’t necessarily say that Tre is the most lyrical rapper I’ve ever heard, but his rhymes are enough to appease the casual hip hop fan while not alienating the mainstream hip-hop listener. Tre boasts about himself frequently on this tape and he’s hungry to be mentioned with those at the top of the game.
“Javarhi Bourdeau Flow” and “19 & Thuggin” stand out as the best tracks on the project. Tre lashes out on his doubters and takes his stance as the next big name in hip-hop on “Javarhi Bourdeau Flow” and continues to do so with Deazy on “19 & Thuggin.”
1. GUNDAM (4.25/5)
2. Finito (4/5)
3. Javarhi Bourdeau Flow (4.75/5)
4. 19 & Thuggin (feat. Deazy) (4.5/5)
5. Prestige (feat. Sean Leon) (3.91/5)
6. Places We Never Been (3.91/5)
GUNDAM proves that Tre deserves the hype he's received so far. With 6 songs, I was highly impressed with the talent this 19-year old MC possesses already. GUNDAM Pt. 2 will defiantly be on my radar whenever it comes out.
